Win Lotto Prizes in Thailand

Besides horse racing, Thailand has a second form of gambling: the Thai lottery. This lottery is operated by the Government Lottery Office (GLO). It is one of only two forms of gambling that is legal in Thailand. It is drawn twice a month. The ticket costs 100 baht.

The government collects money from the lottery by levying a stamp duty on all winnings. The amount is 1% for charitable lotteries and 0.5% for all other lotteries. The ticket seller keeps the difference.

The Thai lottery is available for both Thais and foreigners. To play, you need to be at least 20 years old. You must also have a Thai identification card. All lottery winners are required to fill in a claim form. If you win a prize, you need to go to one of the three GLO offices in Bangkok to claim your prize.

Besides lottery, Thais also enjoy horse racing in Bangkok. The first and the 16th day of the month are the lottery days. The winner must present his or her winning ticket and passport. The tickets have a two-tone watermark. หวยนกตาทิพย์ are printed on special chemical paper.

If you win a prize, you have two years to claim it. If you win less than 20,000 baht, you can claim your prize in cash. However, if you win more than 20,000 baht, you will have to pay stamp duty.

The government is trying to reform the lottery. It has introduced new lottery result patterns. They have also increased the ticket prices.
